This has been a tough time for us all, with each and every one of us being affected in a different way.

For some, this has been a time to step back and reflect and begin to move forward with a more positive outlook on life, personal goals, and relationships with family and friends. However, for others, this period of uncertainty has increased personal anxieties and worries, making adapting to a new way of life difficult.

I hope to help you make managing this new way of life slightly easier with some tips and suggestions that will allow you to see it in a more positive way. I feel that my knowledge and experience of using hypnosis for anxiety will help you in these difficult times. I’ve used below some of the hints and tips that I share with clients, that should help you as well. Remember: it is normal to be feeling worried about the new changes and restrictions put in place to reduce the impact of the pandemic. You are not alone.

Most importantly, make sure you take care of yourself.

Dedicate time to activities that help better improve your mood. Knowing you have things you enjoy planned for the day, will allow you to start the day with a positive mindset. This can be things such as listening to music, reading a book, watching your favourite film or just anything that you enjoy and makes you happy.

Be proactive with your day.

Make a list of things you are going to do throughout the day and tick them off as you go. This attitude gives you power over what is going to happen throughout the day and will allow you to feel in control of the uncertain situation. Also, taking care of yourself will not only help you stay healthy, it will also help you stay calm and focused, which will improve your mindset and mood greatly.

Try to not watch too much of the news or focus on negative information.

Try to spare yourself the worry caused by excessively watching the news. Don’t let the information about the development of the pandemic take over your life. Focus on yourself, staying safe and try to not worry about what is going to happen. At the same time, beware of misinformation; get your information only from reliable websites and sources that provide proven information and advice. Don’t panic. It is also important to remember that we cannot predict nor control the future and so you need to try and focus on the here and now and appreciate the things that are happening right this minute.

If you are feeling extremely anxious and stressed, it is important to remember that it is completely normal to be feeling like this in such an unknown and unpredictable situation.

Sometimes, speaking to someone you trust, like a friend or family member, is a way to feel better and slightly more at ease. Remember, although we are having to socially distance from one another, that doesn’t mean we can’t spend time together over the internet! As well as this, you can keep a journal – writing down and ‘sharing’ what is bothering you, it is more likely that you will feel more relaxed and will be able to put things into perspective. Consider what you are worried about and why you are feeling a certain way.

I hope these tips will help you with this new way of living and for any more questions and advice, please do not hesitate to get in touch. I will do all I can to put your mind at ease and reduce some of your worries and anxieties. I focus on hypnotherapy and neuro-linguistic programming which are both useful techniques for helping you create a more positive and relaxed mindset when it comes to thinking about COVID-19, and the new way of life we have to adjust to.
