When going through times of uncertainty and change, it can be very difficult to stay motivated and keep yourself positive. We need firstly to remember that we are used to uncertainty. We can never fully plan things and know exactly what to expect, so feeling uncertain of what is to come shouldn’t stop you from reaching goals and doing things that make you happy. Whether it’s a job, home, relationship change, or anything else – here are a few tips to help you stay motivated:

Set alarms throughout the day to help keep you on task.

It can be very easy to let the day slip away from you and by the end of the day, you have not achieved anything. By setting alarms throughout the day, you can help keep yourself on task and remember to set intentions of what you want to do or achieve.

Understand what this time is teaching you or, more importantly, how it is helping you to realise what is truly important to you.

It might be how you spend your time or who you want to spend time with, or even goals you want to reach in the future. This is a perfect time for reflection and can be used to sow seeds and enjoy a more fulfilled life in the future. Hypnotherapy and using hypnosis for anxiety can also be of use and can assist you to have a more positive mindset and set personal goals to work towards in the future. Having goals can help you stay motivated and give you something to work towards.

Set an achievable goal that you want to reach during this uncertain period.

This may be a new skill or just working on something that you have always wanted to focus on, but never had time to in the past. This can help keep you motivated by seeing this time as a period of positivity.

To stay motivated, it is important to have a routine.

Having a routine that you have created for yourself, is extremely useful.   Creating a list of things that you know you are going to do throughout the day, will keep you motivated, as waking up to a day with nothing planned can be uninspiring.  So, it is a good idea to get into a routine that includes things that you enjoy. For example, reading a chapter of a book with breakfast and committing to taking a 20-minute walk at lunch.

Make sure you speak to someone about how you are feeling.

If you are feeling unenthusiastic and low during these times of change and uncertainty, it is imperative that you make sure you speak to someone and share your feelings. You will find that you are not alone in feeling this way and opening up to someone, will help you to understand your emotions and will encourage you to have a more positive mindset. Whether it be a friend, family member, or a professional, you must remember you are not alone and there are people who will support you. Hypnotherapy and Neuro-Linguistic Programming are just some of the services I can offer to help motivate you and improve your outlook.

These tips are here to help you, but it is important to remember that not everyone is the same or has the same goals. Just because you know somebody who has learned different skills in a period of time or who has had different achievements, that does not reduce your credibility or how proud you should be of yourself. We all move at different paces and you should focus on you and your own achievements; try not to compare yourself to others, there is only one of you and you should celebrate how well you are doing every day. Small steps add up to mighty successes, and success is different for everyone.
